Internet access in camp

With everything working well and all routines established, there is time for a game of cards and a coffee around the dinner table.

With everything working well and all routines established, there is time for a game of cards and a coffee around the dinner table.

For the first time this year, we now have internet access in camp, and in the morning, several people were busy checking up on e-mail, while others have resigned due to the overwhelming number of messages received since we left the online part of the world 2-4 weeks ago.

Messages to the camp can be sent to rfl@egrip.camp. If the name of a field party member is in the Subject line, the message is printed and passed on to the person in question without being read.

Already on the second day of wet drilling, we have found a stable mode of drilling, and we produced an impressive 25.44 m of core in 13 runs. Logged length 177.91 m.

Also the shallow drilling is going very well. The current depth is now 63 m and firn gas samples were obtained at three depths today.

All in all, there is not much to report today: Everything is running in a good stable mode, and although people are tired after many hours of work in the cold, we also take the time to meet and share the great meals that Sarah prepares for us.

Weather: The winds have been dropping (typically 3 m/s or less) and turning to the East. There was some light fog during the early hours, but as the sun rose and grew powerful, the fog was burned off and revealed blue skies with scattered high clouds.

Best wishes,

Sune (RECAP FL)
