Cake Talk by Maria Svendsmark Hansen

In the research section IDUN at DTU Health Tech we consider diversity a strength. We want to use our differences as a competitive advantage to do excellent science and to grow excellent scientists. In this presentation we would like to tell you about the ‘IDUN Diversity Project’, a project financed by Lundbeck Foundation, and how we have worked with Cultural Intelligence (CQ) to enhance our ability to take advantage of being a diverse research group to be more efficient. CQ can be defined as ‘the capability to relate and work effectively in culturally diverse situations’ and in the presentation examples of how differences in relevant parameters can influence collaboration and working environment. We would also like to give our perspective on challenges with working with diversity and what activities and tasks we believe has been most valuable for improving the working environment in a diverse research group.
