Thesis Title: "Effective Field Theories of Particle Physic and Gravity"

Thesis Abstract:

The thesis examines effective field theories. We provide a brief overview of the principles underlying such theories and then look at concrete examples.

In the first part we discuss the effective field theoretical expansion of the Standard Model of particle physics and some novel theoretical results important for constraining possible “New Physics” using data from the Large Hadron Collider.

The second part addresses effective theories of gravity and current results in this field in the context of fundamental quantities such as the black hole metric which are relevant to the LIGO and VIRGO experiments.
