Inaugural Lecture By Associate Professor Amin Doostmohammadi
Active Matter: Nature's Engines that Power Life
Sperms, bacteria, and tissues, all work as engines of life converting chemical energy into motion.
These systems are known as active materials and are capable of self-organization with prominent role in biological processes, from organ formation to tumor progression. In this lecture I will discuss various examples of active materials and the new understanding emerging from studying physics of biological systems.
