General information on interns

The Niels Bohr Institute does not offer organized internships, but it is possible to come as an exchange student or to organize an internship directly with a supervisor.

  • If you wish to do a project within a specific research area, contact the research groups directly to hear if they are interested.
  • Please note that the institute does not offer any salary or insurance in connection with self-organized internships.

Costs of living in Copenhagen

If you plan and apply for becoming an intern at NBI, please note that the cost of living in Copenhagen is very high by international standards.

  • Lodging in a room could easily cost 700-1500 Euros pr month, and considerably more if you plan to live in eg an AirBnB room or apartment.
  • Food is ~15 % more expensive in DK compared to France, and over 100 % higher than in China.

Similar ratios apply to comsumer products.

As a point of departure, NBI has no grants or allowances for interns, and unfortunately, we have no housing service to help you (or others) find lodging. Moreover, our staff cannot be charged with helping you with these matters. You are most welcome to intern at NBI, but we regret to inform you that you are on your own in these respects.
