Professor

Primary fields of research

Gamma-ray bursts, sources of gravitational waves, quasars, galaxies, origin of chemical elements, the early Universe.

Current research

Spectroscopy of gamma-ray bursts and quasars, sources of gravitational waves, the most distant galaxies and gamma-ray bursts. Galaxy counterparts of Damped Lyman-alpha Absorbers.

Teaching

I have taught courses on Galaxies, Galaxy formation, Cosmology, Advanced cosmology, Galactic dynamics, Fundamentals of Astronomy and Observational Astrophysics.

Furthermore, I have taught at a number of PhD summerschools.

I have superviced about 10 PhD students and a larger number of master students on topics within the fieds of galakxies, gamma-ray bursts and quasars. Examples:
