Matt von Hippel is an assistant professor at the NBIA. He received his PhD in 2014 from SUNY Stony Brook, and from 2014 to 2017 he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Perimeter Institute.
Matt researches scattering amplitudes in gauge and gravity theories. In particular, he has developed new methods to calculate multi-loop scattering amplitudes in N=4 super Yang-Mills based on the properties of polylogarithmic functions. Currently, he is interested in extending these techniques, both to more general theories and to elliptic integrals. He is also heavily involved in outreach, blogging at 4gravitons.com.
