Abstract
The discovery and engineering of new phases of matter are essential to the development of quantum technologies. Two-dimensional materials offer a powerful platform for tailoring interactions between charge carriers due to their high degree of tunability via electric field, doping, and twist angle..
In this talk, we will explore the emergence and control of correlated electronic phases at the interfaces of atomically thin van der Waals materials. A key focus will be on identifying platforms that enable the detection and manipulation of these exotic phases. We will highlight how the excitons in 2D semiconductors not only serve as ideal candidates for this purpose but also reveal a rich intrinsic fine-structure, opening new avenues for understanding quantum phenomena and designing novel correlated phases.
