Copenhagen light festival 2026

A dance performance and laser-light installation in the hanging bridge of the new Niels Bohr Building 6-20 February 2026. Astrid Sten Andersen is an emerging voice in Danish performance art, working across dance, science, installation and large-scale spatial design.

This February, audiences in Copenhagen can experience the outdoor dance performance and laserlight installation: GRID - Step Into the Light. Inside the transparent glass bridge suspended above the city, seven dancers move through atmospheric haze and lasers, trying to fit into the grid of our time.

The audience watches from the street below, as the drama unfolds above them, in a luminous world emerging behind the glass, floating in mid-air.

Each audience member experiences the performance through a personal headset, with a soundscape composed by Mathias Loose, known for using probabilities in his music composition. Sound, movement and light crystallize and dissolve as bodies navigate an endless reflective kaleidoscope, choreographed by Alessandro Sousa Pereira. GRID takes inspiration from the study of crystals and their grid structure, exploring the intersection between art and science.

Through the encounter of installation and performance, the piece introduces a new format to Copenhagen Light Festival.
