Where Death and Glory Meet: Colonel Robert Gould Shaw and the 54th Massachusetts Infantry
Research output: Book/Report › Book › Research › peer-review
Robert Gould Shaw was one of the most celebrated heroes of the American Civil War because of his position as Colonel of the North's first African-American regiment, his abolitionist family, his death on the parapets of Fort Wagner, and the monuments and poems praising his dedication to the equality of man. This book is a biography of the young hero and was a selection of the Military Book Club in Great Britain.
