Issues in dating and synchronization of different time series in paleoclimate

Abstract
It is very tempting to use two nearly perfect paleoclimatic records and synchronize them in order to map out the sequence of abrupt climate change in the past. If a Chinese stalagmite show the same shape of curve as the Greenland ice cores, is it then not justified to match them up by wiggle-matching?? And how about synchronizing climate events in the two hemispheres? I will address the fundamental difference between a counted time scale and absolute dated events.
