Title: Lessons from the Greenland marine mud archive
Abstract:
In similarity with ice cores from the Greenland Ice Sheet, the mud deposited in the ocean around Greenland provides a window into the past climate and ice sheet history. This presentation will focus on two examples: First, a compilation of mud cores showing that sediment flux from the Greenland Ice Sheet in the past decades is strongly linked with ice sheet surface run off. Next, a study from Davis Strait, providing some interesting findings in terms of the Greenland Ice Sheet configuration during the late MIS3 – a time characterized by millennial scale abrupt climate variability (Dansgaard-Oeschger events).
