The aim of the project was to develope an experimental setup for measurement of nitrogen oxides in ice cores and to understand why the amount of nitrogen oxides has changed in the past during abrupt climate changes.

The H2020 Marie Curie Innovative Training Network (ITN) CRITICS was a world-leading European research consortium providing a unique multidisciplinary training environment for fifteen postgraduates for project work lasting for 36 months.

European Space Agency’s Climate Change Initiative + project for the Greenland ice sheet develops monitoring data products from the Greenland ice sheet based on the satellite record. The Niels Bohr Insitute is one of nine project partners.

EUCP will link current observed climate conditions, near future predictions and more distant future projections out to 40 years ahead. It will provide an authoritative framework to assess the impacts and risks of variations in climatic conditions in a range of sectoral applications.

Exploration rovers for investigation of ice sheet changes in Greenland. Our vision is to develop an array of autonomous rovers to explore the interior of the Greenland ice sheet continuously, even through winter seasons where satellite observa-tions are limited due to the polar night.

A new instrument will be used to measure the methane concentration from our current Greenland drilling project EGRIP reaching about 80kyr back in time.

The goal of this project is to make the isotope measurements continuously and in parallel to all other gas related measurements, e.g. methane or nitrous oxide with the goal of high-resolution temperature reconstructions from the EGRIP core.

ERC synergy project, with Norwegian and Danish project partners, which main hypothesis is that Arctic and sub-Arctic sea ice cover excerts important controls on past and future Greenland temperature and ice sheet variations.

A project integrating ice core, marine and terrestrial records with a focus on Europe in the period 60,000 to 8,000 years ago.

The project strive to improve seismic imaging of key features, which are determining for the reservoir properties of the lower Cretaceous sediment package, lithologies as well as faults and fractures.

In this project, we want to understand what sources of methane increase during Dansgaard-Oeschger events and where they are located.

A 2000-year annual climate record from coastal East Antarctica, to study climate variability in the Indian Ocean basin.

Together with colleagues from abroad we measure ocean turbulence in the sidewall and bottom boundary layers off the island of Bornö. We then develop new turbulence closure schemes to improve climate models.

The project aims to make a well dated reconstruction of global ocean heat content since 1850. This record will provide strong constraints on Earth system models, and sea level rise.

The solid Earth Geophysics group at NBI contributes to the OPTION (Optimizing oil production by novel technology integration) project though development of stochastic reservoir models. Project running from 01-01-2015 to 30-06-2019 with Klaus Mosegaard as PI.

The EU-funded Global biological productivity during abrupt climate change (OXYPRO) project will reconstruct the global primary atmospheric oxygen productivity change over the Heinrich Stadial.

The theme of the research project is to identify the dynamics of tipping points and regime shifts in the climate.

The main goal of RESPROB is to develop a probabilistic data integration workflow that allows consistent integration of well-log, geophysical and geological data.

With the help of deep learning algorithms we combine several decades of wave height data from Danish offshore platforms with meteorological data to predict the likelihood of Rogue Wave events in the North Sea.

The project objective is to identify any temporal leads and lags between the Arctic climate system components over the late glacial-interglacial transition (LGIT), using unique volcanic ash deposits as time-synchronous markers between ice and marine cores.

By using the sound of bursting bubbles in ancient polar ice the project aims to reconstruct the elevation changes the Greenland Ice Sheet has undergone the last 10,000 years.

Funded by EU H2020-with the aim to understand Tipping Points of the Earth System (TiPES)-18 european institutions are combining paleoclimatology, time series analysis, earth system modelling, applied mathematics and dynamical system and decision theory.

In collaboration with Alpha film educational movies about tipping points for use in high schools etc. were developed. The project was funded by the Ministry of Children and Education.

The goal of the project is to decrypt seemingly lost past-climate information from the bottom of a Greenland ice core by developing the most advanced measurement method for polar ice cores.
