Complex photonic media for high-dimensional quantum information processing

Photons offer a versatile and easy to control platform for realizing high-dimensional Hilbert spaces for quantum communication and information processing. Light transport in complex photonic media mixes the light across the large number of modes. The mixing results in the scrambling of information that could be encoded onto the various properties of the incident. The control of the multimodal transport using wavefront shaping methods facilities the access to this very high dimensional transformation induced by the complex photonic medium. I will discuss our recent research into exploiting the high-dimensional transformation for fundamental applications: 1) programmable two-photon interference and 2) secure asymmetric communication with a physical unclonable function. We demonstrate complex photonic media as functional devices for high-dimensional quantum information processing.
