Photonic graph state generation from spin-photon interfaces

Optically driven spin systems such as quantum dots and color centers are not only being explored as qubits, but also as efficient photon emitters. Spin-photon interfaces have important applications in quantum communications and quantum computing. In this talk I will present our work on periodically pumped spins for the generation of highly entangled ‘graph’ states of photons. I will show that coupling the quantum emitter to an ancilla enables a variety of photon graphs, with applications in all-photonic quantum repeaters and in measurement-based quantum computing. Realizations based on quantum dots and on color centers will be discussed.
