Quantom Optics seminar by Nils Hauff, ETH Zurich

Abstract:
The nitrogen-vacancy-center in diamond (NV-center) offers a variety of properties that make it amenable to applications in spin-based quantum sensing. The goal of my Master's thesis project was to develop a platform for the investigation of spin-labeled molecules and their couplings to a single NV-center acting as the sensor. I prepared stable free radical molecules on the diamond surface and applied double electron-electron resonance (DEER) methods adapted from conventional electron spin resonance (ESR) to investigate spin-spin interactions between sensor and target. In my talk, I will present the results of my thesis work and related projects related to my current position as a research assistant.
