From Quantum Optics to Telco: experiences in moving from research to industry

Abstract

After completing my PhD in the Quantum Optics group at NBI, I have started my career in the private sector, moving first to a consulting job in McKinsey&Company and afterwards to Nuuday/TDC Business, where I tried several roles within strategy and leadership. In the first part of the talk, I will share my personal experience in moving from research to the private sector, the learnings I took along from my background and the new ones I acquired during the journey. In the second part of the talk, I will touch upon some of the macro trends we observe in telecommunications - especially in the business-to-business market - which I can see relate closely to some the ambitions in the quantum computing community, as cybersecurity and the potential of cloud computing.
