The road to Einstein Telescope: the quest to achieve projected sensitivity

Einstein Telescope (ET) is the planned European 3rd generation ground-based interferometric gravitational-wave observatory that should surpass the existing instruments at least by an order of magnitude in terms of sensitivity. To honour this pledge is, however, not so trivial an exercise. In this talk I will give an overview of the current state of the ET noise budget and the challenges that the ET collaboration encountered on the way towards reaching the projected sensitivity.
