The Role of Membrane-Mediated Interactions in the Assembly of Membrane Nanoinclusions
Professor Matej Daniel, Czech Technical University in Prague
The nanoinclusion interacting with a biological membrane perturbs the membrane. The biomembrane transmits the forces between spatially separated nanoinclusions which is denoted as the membrane-mediated interaction. The aim of the lecture is to discuss several possible mechanisms of the membrane-mediated interactions based on membrane mechanics. In this view the biological membrane mechanics can be considered as field transmitting the short-range and long-range forces between spatially distant inclusions. Interaction of small hydrophobic gold nanoparticles with cell membrane will be further discussed.
