The dynamics and the number of coexisting species in a cross-feeding system

In microbial community ecosystems, interspecies interactions through the leakage and uptake of metabolites are thought to be playing an important role. In a model study it has been suggested that interactions through such leak-take interaction may contribute to the diversity and stability of the entire system (Yamagishi & Kaneko (2021)). In this talk, I will present our on-going study on the characteristic dynamics of a model ecosystem with resource leakage-competition interactions. I will show the relationship between the dynamics of the system and the number of species that can coexist.
