BendixLab on Biophysical Society’s 2026 Annual Meeting with “Physics of Living Interfaces”

BendixLab (University of Copenhagen’s Niels Bohr Institute) has been featured at the Biophysical Society’s 70th Annual Meeting (BPS2026) in San Francisco, held February 21–25 at the Moscone Center, where +6000 of scientists gather to share the latest advances at the intersection of life and physical sciences.

The spotlight comes via a conference video segment titled “Physics of Living Interfaces” - released online as “The Cell Surface: Biology Powered by Physics” which presents the cell surface as a dynamic, rule-driven “living interface,” where forces, geometry, and molecular organization shape cellular behavior.

The feature aligns with the Annual Meeting’s emphasis on connecting disciplines and showcasing emerging approaches in biophysics.

BendixLab’s contribution draws directly from the lab’s core mission: decoding how cells convert force, shape, and motion into biological function, and how physics helps organize cell-surface proteins through mechanisms such as phase separation and geometry - as well as how cells sense mechanical signals from their environment.

Visually, the film connects these concepts to the group’s experimental toolbox, including advanced optical trapping and high-resolution imaging approaches used to probe molecules and membranes at the scales where biology meets mechanics.

The lab describes capabilities spanning optical trapping platforms combined with confocal microscopy and super-resolution microscopies based on flurescence and interferometry/scattering.

The segment appears within the broader ecosystem of Biophysical Society TV, a video-based layer of conference coverage designed to engage attendees on-site and beyond through meeting news and short documentary-style films from universities and research organizations.
