Quantum simulation on silicon quantum photonic circuits

Abstract:
Simulating quantum system is one of the most promising applications of quantum computers. We developed a new quantum photonic simulator on silicon waveguides that can be fully controlled with a high precision. This device allows us to demonstrate a new approach, capable of efficiently calculate the eigen-spectra of quantum systems, combining a variational method and the phase estimation algorithm.

We will also discuss the experimental demonstration of a new Bayesian approach to phase estimation and show its strong robustness to noise and decoherence.

In the end, we will briefly discuss the use of this photonic quantum simulator together with classical Bayesian inference,  to learn the electron-spin Hamiltonian of a diamond nitrogen-vacancy defect.
