Title:  Complexity vs. entanglement: lessons from free bosons

Abstract:

Holographic complexity proposals conjecture that certain codimension-1 and codimension-0 bulk objects are gravity duals to measures of how complicated it is to get a given state from an auxiliary one using a restricted set of operations. However, this complexity is actually very poorly understood even for the simplest examples of quantum field theories. My talk will discuss attempts to define it, explore its properties and contrast them with the properties of entanglement entropy for free bosons. Based on 1707.08582, 1807.07075 and 1810.05151.
