Title: Effective Field Theory and a Model for B anomalies

Abstract: We review the experimental evidence of Lepton Universality Violation in B-meson decays. This evidence is then examined in the model independent framework of Effective Field Theory and contrasted with the body of flavor data. The outcome is a quite constrained set-up from which we will elaborate a possible explanation based of a U(1) local horizontal (i.e. flavor) symmetry while keeping an eye on addressing the flavor puzzle.
