Title: Holographic dual of higher-form global symmetry: plasma, elasticity
Abstract: In this talk, I will discuss recent developments in
understanding the higher-form global symmetry. In particular, I will
discuss the existence of 1-form global symmetry in electromagnetism in
3+1 dimensions and theory of elasticity in 2+1 dimensions. By
implementing this symmetry to holographic construction, we are able to
find new ways to construct simple holographic duals of
magnetohydrodynamics and theory with spontaneously broken translational
symmetry. Various new features of these holographic theories and its
low-energy excitations will also be discussed. This talk is based on
recent papers with Saso Grozdanov (1707.04182 and 1801.03199) and with
Saso Grozdanov and Andy Lucas (1810.10016).
