Hadronic models for high-energy emission from extragalactic jets

The detection of ultra-high-energy cosmic rays and high-energy neutrinos suggests the presence of astrophysical sources that act as hadronic particle accelerators of the Universe. Relativistic jets launched from a variety of extragalactic sources, such as the centers of active galaxies, collapsing massive stars, or even tidal disruption events are ideal candidates for the acceleration of hadrons to high energies. In this talk, I will present models used to describe the high-energy emission expected from extragalactic jets containing relativistic hadrons, and discuss prospects for identifying such hadronic accelerators with existing and next-generation experiments.
