Magnetically arrested accretion flows near the black hole horizon

Magnetically arrested accretion flows are thought to fuel some of the supermassive black holes and to power their relativistic jets. The same mechanism operates at a lower mass scale, in the gamma ray burst engines. We investigate observational signatures of strong magnetic fields using numerical, high resolution and long duration simulations of magnetically dominated flows. We study the structure and time variability of jets launched from the spinning black holes.
