Black Hole Microstructure V
Gregorio Carullo delivered an invited talk on the fifth edition of the “Black Hole Microstructure” conference, held at Saclay University, Paris.
The conference brought together world experts in String Theory and compact objects, both on the theoretical and observational sides. Recent progress on our understanding of objects that could replace black holes, and resolve many of the theoretical puzzles attached to them, was at the center of the discussion.
Gregorio reviewed state of the art observations of dark compact objects properties and dynamics from gravitational wave observations (title of the talk: “Gravitational-wave signatures of beyond-Kerr: observational status, developments and perspectives”); he also discussed future avenues to access the utterly mysterious black hole "horizon”, the defining characteristic of such enigmatic objects, leveraging on new theoretical proposals and upcoming gravitational wave detectors.
