Strong at LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA in Japan

Scientists from around the world gather in Toyama, Japan, for the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA collaboration meeting September 11-14, 2023. The focus of the meeting was discussing the progress of the ongoing fourth observing run (to see the current list of gravitational wave candidates click here).

Strong group members Juno Chan, Rico Lo and Jose Ezquiaga participated actively in this meeting, chairing sessions, delivering contributed talks and presenting posters. They were also lucky to be able to visit the KAGRA facilities (see pictures), that differently to the LIGO and Virgo detectors are underground.

During this trip to Japan, Strong group members also visited Professor Masamune Oguri at Chiba University to discuss synergies between gravitational lensing of different messengers.
